A Hot Rod Built from a Lamborghini 2R Tractor. A Little Automotive Madness in Photos
Custom builds and hot rods are an international phenomenon these days, and the shapes they take are often remarkably strange. Today, in 28 photos, we have an example of how they do it in Italy. How they do it in Italy, that is, with a tractor.
I stumbled across this crazy thing by chance. It is crazy, though not in the same way the Viper-engined Jeep Cherokee I showed earlier was crazy. This is a different flavour of madness.
So: when it was born in 1964 it was an ordinary working stiff, a Lamborghini 2R tractor. Back then Ferruccio Lamborghini had only just started dabbling in cars; his main business was still agricultural machinery, solidly built and with an excellent reputation.
For many years it toiled peacefully in the fields somewhere around Padua, until in 2025 it fell into the hands of a certain inventive craftsman who did THIS to it. Whether it is art or an abomination, everyone is free to decide for themselves. I am only showing the pictures, and for those my thanks go to Bring a Trailer (BaT).
In short: the paint was stripped, the metal polished, the track widened, and the whole thing lowered by flipping the rear portal axle upside down. The cooling fan was moved to the front, out in the open. Oh, and a second, passenger seat was added at the back. From here on let the photographs do the talking. At the end there are four photos of an original 2R.
